Hotel Santa Catalina
The Hotel Santa Catalina is a landmark of Las Palmas, the capital city of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands. This purpose built hotel was commissioned for the Canary Islands Company in 1887 and inaugurated in 1890. It was built in response to the increasing need to create a comfortable resting place for those en route to Africa. The hotel continued operating until 1922. It was demolished in 1941 and rebuilt on the original foundations to a new design which retained the original plan form.
