Volume 9: Spring 2011

In this volume of the Society Journal we feature Alan Calder's study of William Flockhart's country houses. This may be seen as a foretaste of Alan's new monograph on the work of Flockhart, James MacLaren's friend and colleague. We have previously published articles on Flockhart's early work and on his monumental achievement at Rosehaugh, so members will look forward to reading the complete monograph to be published shortly by Shaun Tyas Publishing.

We also include in this volume some additional information that has come to light on subjects featured in Volume 8. We have a little more information on the MacLaren family's background, a discovery of Clissett chairs in Fortingall, and some details about John MacNaughton, the Aberfeldy builder who worked for MacLaren and Dunn and Watson in Fortingall.
