2018 Lecture
The talk after the 2018 AGM of the James M MacLaren Society on 1st June was given by Mary Miers, historian, writer, and the fine arts and books editor at Country Life. Her talk, based on her recent book Highland Retreats: The Architecture and Interiors of Scotland's Romantic North attracted a large audience. Her book recognises the new generation of Scottish architects from the 1880s, including James M Maclaren, whose patron Sir Donald Currie, MP involved him in the development of Garth House and Glenlyon House.
